A "sequence" (or "progression", in British English) is an ordered list of numbers; the numbers in this ordered list are called "elements" or "terms".
Arithmetic sequences are used in daily life for different purposes, such as determining the number of audience members an auditorium can hold, calculating projected earnings from working for a company and building wood piles with stacks of logs.
There are many uses of geometric sequences in everyday life, but one of the most common is in calculating interest earned.Physicists use geometric progressions to calculate the amount of radioactive material left after any given number of half-lives of the material. During each half-life, the material decays by 50 percent.
So, imagine that during this Xmas holidays, you are given presents for 12 days.
