- Bring about: Provocar / Causar un cambio o una situación. Example: New technologies have brought about significant changes in education.
- Point out: Señalar / Indicar un hecho o un dato importante. Example: Experts point out that regular exercise reduces stress.
- Weigh up: Sopesar / Evaluar los pros y los contras de una decisión. Example: Before choosing a career, you must weigh up all the options.
- Put forward: Proponer o presentar una idea, plan o teoría para que sea debatida. Example: The committee put forward several interesting suggestions.
- Back up: Respaldar / Apoyar una afirmación con pruebas o datos. Example: You need to back up your arguments with real examples.
- Look up to: Admirar o respetar profundamente a alguien. Example: I have always looked up to my older sister because of her determination.
- Fall out with: Discutir y enfadarse con alguien, dejando de hablarse. Example: He fell out with his best friend over a silly misunderstanding.
- Take after: Parecerse a un familiar (en el físico o en el carácter). Example: She takes after her mother; they both love painting.
- Count on: Contar con alguien / Confiar en una persona. Example: You can always count on me whenever you need help.
- Come across: Toparse con algo por casualidad (o causar una determinada impresión). Example: I came across an old photo while cleaning my room.
- Carry out: Llevar a cabo / Realizar una tarea, experimento o investigación. Example: The company is carrying out a survey to improve its products.
- Get over: Superar una enfermedad, una mala experiencia o una ruptura. Example: It took him a long time to get over the disappointment.
- Put up with: Soportar / Tolerar una situación molesta o a una persona difícil. Example: I cannot put up with this noisy behaviour any longer.
- Face up to: Afrontar / Asumir una realidad difícil o un problema. Example: We must face up to the fact that resources are limited.
- Turn out: Resultar ser / Terminar de una manera determinada. Example: Although we expected rain, the day turned out to be beautiful.
- Cuidado con los phrasal verbs transitivos (Separables): En el nivel B2 debes saber si el objeto va entre el verbo y la partícula o al final. Recuerda que si el objeto es un pronombre (it, them, him), va obligatoriamente en medio: I backed the theory up o I backed it up (nunca I backed up it).
- Adapta el registro al tipo de escrito: Aunque en B2 se usan phrasal verbs en los ensayos, elige los del primer bloque (point out, carry out), que tienen un corte más formal y académico. Guarda los más coloquiales (fall out with, hang out) para los correos a amigos.
- No olvides los tiempos perfectos: En B2 se penaliza el uso exclusivo del Past Simple. Intenta combinar estos verbos con el Past Perfect o el Present Perfect Continuous: By the time he arrived, they had already carried out the plan.
